YpsiGLOW 2020
This window exhibit highlights the video portraiture and paintings of Joel Swanson, a visual artist working in the studios at 306 West Cross Street in Ypsilanti.
The Ypsilanti Portrait Project
This exhibit continues the Ypsilanti Portrait Project, an effort begun in 2019 to highlight and record the faces of Ypsilanti residents through video, paintings and drawings. The people who live here are essential to the life of the city. They should always be visible.
With the model’s permission, the video recordings are used for paintings and drawings by Joel Swanson. Models receive a commission for each sold painting or video that contains their image.
